With the creation of the European Union, national borders were demolished in favor of a wider citizenship, the European one. In order for this to be truly possible in every area, the European Commission has also introduced a single model of CV format, the so-called Europass, a format recognized in all states of the Union and practical for its reading.
Thanks to the precise definition of the data, the European format makes it possible to immediately recognize the different aspects of each curriculum, thus facilitating the work of recruiters who will immediately know where to identify each aspect. Its creation is actually very simple and involves the orderly and gridded compilation of the different aspects.
So let’s see together what data to enter and how to create the CV online and.
In order to have all the information relating to the candidate immediately clear, the European format requires the precise compilation of some aspects. The first, the most important, are personal data, such as name, surname, email and telephone numbers, residence and nationality, the latter entered precisely because it is a document that can circulate between different states.
Then we move on to list the work experiences and then the training ones, inserting first the most recent and then the past ones. After the experiences it is the turn of the skills, divided into linguistic and computer skills, which also specify the degree of knowledge, the relational, organizational and technical ones that must be confirmed by the work and training experiences carried out.
The European curriculum also allows you to add a section concerning artistic skills and competences in addition to the so-called skills. The schematic format allows you to immediately identify what is being sought, even if this means somehow unifying all candidates.
To facilitate the compilation of the curriculum by candidates and to ensure that all the requested data are correctly entered, the European Commission makes the Europass website (from which the format takes its name) available to all citizens, entirely free of charge. Here you can fill in your CV online in your native language or in English and export it in different formats to be able to share it for your job search. By creating a personal account it is also possible to modify the CV each time according to needs, adding the new skills learned, the training courses followed and the new work experiences without having to recompile the CV every time.
If, on the other hand, you prefer to compile through the computer’s own writing programs, you can download the pre-printed template, often already present among those available within programs such as Word and Pages. In any case, it is always advisable to export it in an unchanged format by third parties and to ensure the presence of the processing of personal data. In fact, if this is already present on the Europass site, with the different models it may be necessary to enter it manually. Before carrying out this step, it is good to inquire about the new directives regarding data processing to insert the most updated one.
